New York Guardians vs DC Defenders
Spread- Defenders (-5.5)
QB- Cardale Jones Week 1 stats- 16/26, 235 yards, two touchdowns, and a QB rating 116.7
-Cardale Jones ended up the second best QB on the slate last week and I am not shocked. The Defenders are clearly a top team in the league and should continue their dominance this week
QB- Matt McGloin Week 1 stats – 15/29 (52 %) 182 yards, one touchdown, and a QB rating of 82.8.
-Matt McGloin proved once again in my opinion that he just isn’t a great QB. He did run in a touchdown and throw for one, which was great. In the end, the one thing that he has going for him his game script. He will have to throw all game, overall I don’t love this matchup.
Jhurrell Pressley Week 1 stats (DC)- 11.6 (RuATT), 47.7 RuYds, 2.9 (rec), 19.2 ReYds
-Pressley went into this game pretty chalky and he did alright. I think this game could lead to more Pressley work based on game script. He is also my top ranked RB on the slate. I think Pressley is fine in cash and fine for a game stack.
Darius Victor Week 1 stats (NY) – 10.6 ( RuAtt), 49.1 RuYds, 2.9 Rec, 19.2 Reyds
-Victor was getting fed quite a bit when it came to crunch time. With McGloin most likely struggling vs the Defenders secondary, I could see Victor getting more passes thrown his way. At his price I think he is firmly in play and with the way this league is ran, I am totally ok with punting at the RB position. Right now Victor is my 5th ranked RB.
Mekale McKay (NY) Week 1 stats- 3.7 rec for 50.9 yards
McKay is good at what he does, I have no doubt in my mind that he could get a shot playing in the NFL. The only issue is that, his QB is not good. His price on DK is sort of disgusting and the only way I want this action is if I am game stacking or stacking with McGloin. McKay is my third ranked WR on the slate and I don’t view him as a core play regardless.
Eli Rogers (DC) week 1 stats 6.5 rec for 83.7 yards.
Eli Rogers, the ex-Steeler, came in and handled it like a true NFL player. He had a great game with Cardale and looks to be the focal point of the offense. Rogers is my second ranked WR and I plan on going back to that this week
Honorable Mention(s)- Rashad Ross/ Colby Pearson/ Joe Horn Jr
Tampa Bay Vipers at Seattle Dragons
Spread- Vipers (-2.5)
QB – Brandon Silvers (QB) week 1 statline- 21/40, 217 yards, three touchdowns, and two int.
Silvers was saved by the touchdowns, but overall he didn’t look great. I do not have much interest in Silvers this week, nothing more than a GPP play or team stack play. Silvers is currently ranked 7th overall for me.
(Silvers was questionable, but now is probable to play)
QB- Quinton Flowers – Flowers will now start for Tampa with Aaron Murray officially out with a foot injury. Flowers was a USF star and honestly I think this could actually benefit Tampa. Flowers is a mobile QB that can rack up fantasy points at any moment. (I will confirm he is the starter and update in Discord)
RB- De’Veon Smith Week 1 stats- 16 carries for 79 yards. De’Veon looked decent when given the opportunity last week. He averaged 4.9 YPC and that to me is pretty dang good for RBs in this league. Right now Smith is my top ranked RB, but I am still trying to find the right roster construction to make him work. He is the safest Rb play on the slate.
RB- Kenneth Farrow Week 1 stat line- 7 carries for 41 yards and averaged 5.9 YPC. The limited amount of carries is concerning. At his price he is nothing more than a DEEP GPP play.
Ja’Quan Gardner/ Trey Williams are also getting work and so this makes the RB situation for Seattle a complete headache. I am going to stay away from this mess for now.
WRS-Nick Proehl Week 1 stat line- 5 catches for 88 yards and two touchdowns. Lets just say, Proehl had a week! Brandon Silvers leaned on Proehl and found him twice in the end-zone. Believe me, he will be chalky. He is a top WR that is under 10k and people who don’t understand XFL will just look at boxscores. Proehl is my 6th ranked WR and honestly, I may just eat the chalk.
WRs- Dan Williams week 1 stat line- 6 catches for 123 yards and zero touchdowns. Dan Williams hands down was the best WR on the slate last week. He lead the league in yards week 1 and I am going to assume that continues this week. Williams is ranked 11th out of the WRs this week and that is fine with me. We will probably get him lower owned than he should be as well. At his price, I am all for Dan “The Man” Williams this week.
WRs- Nick Truesdell Week 1 stat line- 3 catches for 49 yards and zero touchdowns. Yeah, I get it 3 catches really isn’t that great. If you watched the game you would of saw that those three catches were impressive plays. Truesdell is a TE that DK has as a WR and was the number 1 pick for his team. I think we will see more looks this week and possibly a touchdown. He is my 9th ranked WR this week.
WRs- Jalen Tolliver Week 1 stat line- 3 catches for 47 yards. I don’t mind Tolliver, as it seems that he is going to get some looks. I don’t believe he is a core play, but game stack I am all for it. He is also under 4k so you really don’t need much.
Honorable mentions- Kennan Reynolds and Reece Horn
Dallas Renegades at Los Angeles Wildcats
QB- Josh Johnson- Johnson was out last week and it looks that he is trending towards playing this week. This game screams positive game script for Josh Johnson. Los Angeles just find their defensive coordinator and I am going to guess, Landry Jones eats this week. Johnson is my 4th ranked QB this week
QB- Landry Jones, looks like he will finally play this week. He is literally the face of the league and is my second ranked QB on the slate. I firmly believe Jones is an elite option and with that he will bring ownership. Don’t be afraid to eat the chalk.
RBs- Cameron-Artis Payne Week 1 stat line-2 carries for 6 yards. He did play 52% of the snaps, so I really don’t understand why he wasn’t utilized. Payne did run 23% of routes and with Landry back, maybe this week benefits This week should be different with the Renegades -4 favorites. I think Payne could go under owned this week and this is the week to jump back on board.
RBs- Elijah Hood Week 1 stats-12 carries for 43 yards, Averaged 3.6. Elijah Hood didn’t do much with his opportunity, but the positive is that he played 73% of snaps. He is my 4th ranked RB this week just due to price and the fact that he is getting a ton of snaps. I don’t mind him this week especially in a game that should have quite a bit of scoring.
WRs – Nelson Spruce week 1 stats- 11 rec for 103 yards. Spruce was a stud in the AAF and it looks like he is bringing his talent to the XFL. He is quite expensive and it will take a ton to pay off his salary. I am not saying he is a bad play, because he isn’t. His price just makes me a tad bit worried and I wouldn’t consider him a core play. Either way, I am fine with getting him in.
WRs- Jeff Badet Week 1 stats- 3 catches for six yards. Yeah he had a really awful game, but this week he gets Josh Johnson back. I am back on board the Badet train this week and I firmly believe he will bounce back.
Honorable mentions- Tre McBride and Darnold Parnham.
St. Louis Battlehawks vs Houston Roughnecks
QBs- Phillip Walker- Walker was an absolute stud last week! His week 1 stat line was 272 yards 4 touchdowns and had a QB rating of 103.8. He is my top ranked QB this week and I am sure he is for everyone else as well. He threw the ball 38 times, but oddly enough didn’t run as much as I thought he would. I think he will be chalky this week and I don’t care.
QBs – Jordan Ta’amu- Week 1 stat line 209 yards passing and threw for 1 touchdown. He did most of his damage on the ground. I can say this team is a little bit harder to target, due to the fact that they tend to throw to many different WRs. Still don’t mind Ta’amu I this spot and he is currently my 5th ranked QB on the slate
RBs- James Butler- Had 9 carries for 30 yards. I don’t love the play, but he did get 4 green zone carries and played 71% of the snaps. With Henderson and Williams both hurt, I think if both are out we can label Butler as an elite back. Will update in slack.
RBs- Christine Michael- Week 1 stat line 7 carries 0 Yards, yeah don’t do it.
RBs- Matt Jones was the lead back and his stat line was 21 carries for 85 yards. Seeing that they are feeding Jones 20+carries puts him in the elite play format.
WRs- Khalil Lewis Week 1 stat line- 5 catches for 45 yards-I still believe that we are going to see these numbers go up, as more teams will start attacking Sammie Coates. At his price, I am back here again this week and love him in a game stack.
WRs- Sammie Coates- Week 1 stat line 2 catches on 9 targets for 26 yards. Obviously he has shown once again he can’t catch. Still think he has the talent to turn it around, but I wouldn’t make him a core play.
Honorable mentions- De’Mornay Pierson- El/ Cam Phillips (love him this week)/ La’Damian Washington.
Good luck this week! Hopefully all this information helps you make some money!
