Tilted Frank’s Pitching Picks – 7/24/20

I will be honest, last night did not go well for me. My crunches did not upload on DraftKings and I ended up throwing away all my research. On the plus side, DraftKings paid me back and now we are set to go for tonight!

We have a huge 11 game slate on our hands and plenty of pitching to talk about. For my articles I will focus on 3-4 pitchers on each slate. I will have pitchers for cash and pitchers who could be sneaky in GPP’s. Obviously tonight we have a huge slate so we really don’t need to play all chalk if we want to take down anything big. Anyways lets get rockin!

Justin Verlander ($11,200 FD) (11,400 DK) – Verlander is the most expensive player on the slate and honestly for good reason. Verlander is a -295 home favorite and the opponents run total is sitting at 2.33. As I am writing this the run total has gone up a tad +0.03 and that doesn’t mean much.

He is coming off a Cy Young season and has dominated day in and day out.

2019 stats– 3.11 xFIP, wOBA 0.251, k % 35.1%, and had a walk rate of about 4.7%. As you can tell those are truly dominating stats. Tonight I highly doubt we see anything different from Verlander. Last year out of his five starts against the Mariners he put up 20+ DK points in three of five outings.

Now Verlander faces an awful Seattle lineup in which he should DOMINATE.

He should be chalky, but that is something I will keep my eyes on through out the day.

Verlander- Cash LOCK/ SE GPPS

German Marquez (8,200 FD) ($8,700 DK)- It really feels like people don’t realize how good this man is. His main struggles are at home where he posted a 6.26 ERA last year (gross) but we have to remember it is Colorado where most pitchers end up getting rocked.

This is where I am in love (his away splits) in 2019 – Hitters hit .212 against him, in 100 innings he gave up 78 hits, and struck out 91 batters. The only main issue that he has is giving up homers in which he gave up 16 on the road last year.

He has shown a tremendous amount of upside on the road posting 30+ DK points a hand full of times.

He does struggle against lefties and the Rangers have five projected lefties, but out of those five 3/5 batters strike out 25% or more against RHP. This is where I am willing to take a risk in GPP’s.

I would not say Marquez is a cash play, due to the fact he could give up a few bombs tonight. He does offer the upside we need to take down tournaments at a decent price on both sites.

Marquez- GPPS/ MME

Chris Paddack ($8,900 FD) ($8,600 Dk) – One thing I want everyone to remember after reading this article is that when Paddack is at home, you play him. In his rookie year at home:

  • 3.06 era, teams had a .188 average, .227 OBP, .332 SLG, and a .236 WOBA. Paddack also struck out 68 batters in 61 innings pitched! Friends those are AMAZING NUMBERS

Tonight he is at home going against a good Diamondbacks lineup who added Starling Marte and Willie Calhoun during the off season. That defiantly helps the Arizona lineup, but when we are playing San Diego I tend to attack opposing teams.

I firmly believe his price tag makes him an excellent play with a tremendous amount of upside. I want all the Paddack I can get today.

Paddack– I want to say he is more a GPP play, but I think you can defiantly play him in cash.

Good luck tonight! Make sure you get in the FREE discord room today! Take full advantage of the amazing stuff the crew will be dropping.
