Final game before the All-Star break. Luckily, the NBA has graced us with an awesome slate. Just kidding, it’s a crappy two game slate.
But of course we are going to play right? I mean NBA action doesn’t start up again for another week so we need our fix!
With both games starting tonight at the same time, we won’t have to worry about having any late game injury news. Here is what is on the docket for tonight.
Top of the Key
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ($6,500 DK / $7,400 FD) at New Orleans Pelicans
DraftKings did something funky today and decided to slash the prices on all the Thunder. I really like a number of pieces from them tonight (Paul, Schroder, Gallinari) but let’s take a look at SGA.
First off, this game total is 6.5 higher total then the Boston vs. Clippers matchup and will be at a much faster pace. I prefer to target players on either New Orleans or Oklahoma City tonight.
Gilgeous-Alexander has hit a bit of a wall lately, but I like his matchup tonight. The Thunder will be at a positive 6.36 pace differential and the Pelicans have been giving up an average of 30.2 fantasy points per game versus shooting guards.
Over his last five games SGA has averaged 19.4 points, 6.4 rebounds in 35.2 mininutes and he will more than likely be the Thunder guard I turn to tonight.
Zion Williamson ($7,800 DK / $7,700 FD) vs. Oklahoma City Thunder
As of now, Brandon Ingram is listed as a game time decision. I highly doubt they roll him out in this matchup as he will have more than a week to rest his injury over the break if he sits.
With Ingram off the court, Williamson has been an absolute beast. Williamson has logged a total of 115 minutes with Ingram off the court this year and see a 6.55 usage increase and 19.41 fantasy point increase per 48 minutes.
He has also been seeing minutes in the upper 20’s to low 30’s and could see 30+ if Ingram sits.
Over his past five games, the rookie has put up 23.4 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.
Here are a few players and situations I will be keeping my eye that could be in good spots depending on how news breaks or players I will look into a little throughout the day.
Daniel Theis ($4,600 DK / $5,300 FD) vs. Los Angeles Clippers – I like Theis tonight if he gets the start. The Clippers struggle defending the center position and at his price I like his opportunity here.
Josh Hart ($5,600 DK / $5,000 FD) and J.J. Redick ($4,400 DK / $4,500 FD) vs. Oklahoma City Thunder – I really only have interest here if Ingram sits. Both see a usage and fantasy point increase with him off the floor.
