Snoop’s NBA “2-3 Zone” – 8/7/20

As we roll into the weekend, we have another five game slate beginning at 3:00 PM CT. It’s an interesting slate with two games projected to go over 230 points and two others in the 220’s.

The Boston versus Toronto game should be a great one to watch, but it come in with just a 219.5 game total.

A few more injuries have come up as Ben Simmons and Aaron Gordon will be missing an extended period of time. This opens up some nice plays as well as gives a boost to guys we always look to target on those teams.

Top of the Key

Joel Embiid ($10,500 DK / $9,700 FD) vs. Orlando Magic

Embiid is really the only stand-alone stud on today’s slate and it is interesting how people go about constructing their lineups. With enough mid-tier players to use today with high upsides, you can pay up for the 76ers stud without hating your lineup.

Simmons is ruled out indefinitely with a knee injury and Embiid will be one of the main beneficiaries in his absence. In 599 minutes this season without him on the court, Embiid sees a 3.43 usage increase and a 9.26 fantasy point increase, by far the most on the team.

Looking at his performances in the bubble, Embiid is averaging 1.84 fantasy points per minute on both DraftKings and FanDuel. With how the slate is looking today, it is hard for me to believe that if he hits these numbers he will not show up in the top lineups.

De’Aaron Fox ($7,600 DK / $8,000 FD) at Brooklynn Nets

Fox has been a solid, consistent performer for the Kings who cannot say that about many of their players since the restart.

In Sacramento’s first four games in the bubble, Fox has a 33.6 usage rate with a team high 28 assists. In 139 total minutes, he is averaging 1.34 DK and 1.36 FD fantasy points, respectfully.

He had his best game last time out as he shot 12-21 from the field with 10 assists in 37 minutes. Brooklyn has been strong against the point guard but have not had the hardest of matchups with Marcus Smart, Eric Bledsoe, Shabazz Napier and DJ Augustin.

Baseline Looks

Here are a few players and situations I will be keeping my eye that could be in good spots depending on how news breaks or players I will look into a little throughout the day.

Terrence Ross ($5,000 DK / $5,400 FD) at Philadelphia 76ers – Ross benefits from the Gordon and Jonathan Issac injury. With both those players off the court this season, he has a 3.34 increase on his usage rate while averaging 8.87 more fantasy points per 48 mininutes.

Ish Smith ($5,000 DK / $5,300 FD) at New Orleans Pelicans – It does not feel great paying this price for Smith, but he has been very good since the restart. He is almost locked into 30 minutes a game and in 107 total minutes, he is averaging 1.11 DK and 1.12 FD fantasy points per minute.

Dillon Brooks ($5,400 DK / $5,200 FD) and Brandon Clarke (4,900 DK / 5,900 FD) vs. Oklahoma City Thunder – Once again going back to Memphis again today. Both Brooks and Clarke have been solid, not spectacular since the restart. Still some good options at reasonable prices.

Brooks – 134 total minutes – 0.84 DK / 0.82 FD fantasy points per minute

Clarke – 109 total minutes – 0.82 DK / 0.84 FD FPPM
