Snoop’s NBA “2-3 Zone” – 1/7/21

After a huge slate last night, we are back to an interesting five game slate on Thursday. I cannot remember the last time, if ever, we had a slate with start times like this one.

The Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets kick off the slate at 6:30 CT followed by the Cleveland Cavilers and Memphis Grizzlies a half hour later. We then have an hour and a half break until the next three games start, all at 9:00 CT.

It is likely we will have all the injury news we need for the first two games before lock and hopefully we are lucky enough to see who will be active for the Los Angeles Lakers tonight.

We have a long injury list in the Cleveland and Memphis game so we could look for our value there; however, its 209.5 game total is less than appealing.

As always, we will be discussing the slate throughout the day in our Discord, so make sure you head over to our premium membership page to get signed up!

Top of the Key

Luka Doncic ($10,500 DK / $11,100 FD) at Denver Nuggets

Coming off his best game of the season last time out, the debate is going to be Doncic or Nikola Jokic as our high priced pay up today.

In comparison, Doncic has the better opportunity tonight due to his usage with Kristaps Porzingis still sidelined. So far this season, Doncic has a 37.5 usage percentage compared to Jokic’s 28.9%.

Doncic is also leading the Mavericks starters in rebounding opportunity at 15.9%.

The matchup could not get better as the Nuggets have been dreadful over the past five games against opposing point guards.

D’Angelo Russell – 59.25 DK FP | 40 DK FP

Chris Paul – 37.75 DK FP

De’Aaron Fox – 34.5 DK FP

James Harden – 55.5 DK FP

Taking all that into consideration, Doncic is one of my favorite overall plays tonight.

D’Angelo Russell ($7,700 DK / $7,800 FD) at Portland Trailblazers

Speaking of Russell, it seems as if he has broken out of his early season slump over the past two games with 99.25 total DK FP.

With Karl-Anthony Towns out, the Timberwolves guard has a 28.3 usage percentage and is involved on 40.4% of their plays.

This matchup is also the highest projected game on the slate with a 233 game total with Minnesota being a 10-point underdog. If the Timberwolves keep this one close, you can bet it has something to do because of Russell.

Baseline Looks

Here are a few players and situations I will be keeping my eye that could be in good spots depending on how news breaks or players I will look into a little throughout the day.

Derek Jones Jr. ($4,100 DK / $3,900 FD) vs. Minnesota Timberwolves – There is not much for value on tonight’s slate, but Jones Jr. might be worth a look at the SF position on FanDuel. He has seen 30 or more minutes in five of their first seven games.

Danny Green ($3,700 DK / $3,900 FD) vs. Philadelphia 76ers – It never feels good to recommend Green, but he has gone for 23, 26 and 33 DK points in his last three games. If he can hit his open shots I can see using him as a cheaper option tonight.

Dennis Schroder ($6,100 DK / $5,300 FD) at San Antonio Spurs – Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, LeBron James and Anthony Davis show up on the injury report and Schroder would get a bump up if any miss. Even if they all suit up, I like his price on FanDuel.
