Snoop’s NBA “2-3 Zone” – 1/15/21

Friday brings us a nice eight game slate, two down from where it started the week as the Washington Wizards and Detroit Pistons along with the Golden Stat Warriors and Phoenix Suns games have been postponed.

We still have numerous teams on this slate dealing with health protocol issues and injuries, but pricing has been adjusted a little better than it has the previous days this week so lineup construction can get somewhat back to normal.

All the games have relatively close game totals with both the Dallas Mavericks versus the Milwaukee Bucks and Sacramento Kings versus Los Angeles Clippers leading the slate at 228.

As always, we will be discussing the slate throughout the day in our Discord, so make sure you head over to our premium membership page to get signed up!

Top of the Key

Luka Doncic ($11,000 DK / $11,600 FD) at Milwaukee Bucks

Coming off his third 70-plus fantasy point performance of the season, Doncic gets a good matchup with the Bucks in what should be a great real life game.

Doncic has been on fire over his past five games, averageing 30.4 points, 12.8 rebounds and 10 assists. He is also logging 37.3 minutes during that time with a 38.99 percent usage rate.

Milwaukee has given up a few big fantasy performances over their past few games to much lesser talent, obviously, compared to Doncic. Mike Conley went for 38.75 DraftKings fantasy points and Damyean Dotson scored 40.5 DK FP recently.

Even with the return of Kristaps Porzingis, the MVP candidate comes in as my top play on today’s slate.

Jonas Valanciunas ($7,100 DK / $7,000 FD) at Minnesota Timberwolves

Valanciunas gets the same matchup as he did on Wednesday against Minnesota and hopes to repeat his same stat line. In that game, he went for a season-high in both points (24) and rebounds (16).

He is sporting a 25.8 percent usage rate over his past five games while averaging 1.33 DK FP and 1.32 FD FP. The Memphis big man has also played 30 minutes in each of his last two contests.

Minnesota has been weak against the center position lately allowing an average of 33.8 fantasy points per game over their last five games.

If we can get another 30 minutes out of Valanciunas, we could be looking at a repeat performance tonight.

Baseline Looks

Here are a few players and situations I will be keeping my eye that could be in good spots depending on how news breaks or players I will look into a little throughout the day.

Nickel Alexander-Walker ($4,400 DK / $5,800 FD) at Los Angeles Lakers – Huge price bump for NAW after coming off a career game, but it was much warranted. Lonzo Ball will be sidelined again tonight paving the way for another start for Alexander-Walker. Eric Bledsoe is also listed on the injury report, and if he also misses, it increases my interest even more in NAW.

Marcus Smart ($7,600 DK / 6,200 FD) vs. Orlando Magic – Boston is finally back in action after missing the past few games due to health protocols, but still will be shorthanded. Jayson Tatum is already ruled out and Jaylen Brown also appears on the injury list. If Brown misses, Smart can be a lock and load on DraftKings. Regardless if Brown plays, I love Smart’s price on FanDuel.

Xavier Tillman ($3,300 DK / $3,700 FD) at Minnesota Timberwolves – With not much value on the slate, Tillman has averaged 18.4 minutes over his past games while producing 0.95 fantasy points per minute. I think if you are playing MME, he would be a salary saver you want to include in your builds.
