Snoop’s “2-3 Zone” – 7/31/20

Whoa, the return of NBA finally! It has been a long time off, but it was nice to see some actual game action last night.

The restart is going to have a weird feel to it with games playing throughout the day. It feels like a giant Christmas Day slate. Make sure to keep an eye on news as it trickles through to make sure you are not stuck with any late scratches.

With some huge contests on both DraftKings and FanDuel, we have a six game slate beginning at 1:30 CT. Our highest game total comes from the Houston and Dallas matchup, the last game on the slate.

Top of the Key

Giannis Antetokounmpo ($10,500 DK / $10,700 FD) vs. Boston Celtics

I do not see anything wrong with any of the three studs today (James Harden and Luka Doncic) but I am going to go with Antetokounmpo due to roster construction and position eligibility.

The Bucks and Celtics have squared off twice earlier in the season and Giannis tallied 53 and 67 DK points in those games. There really is no indication on a minute’s restriction in this matchup and you would have to guess he would get a close to full workload to knock the rust off against one of the East’s top teams.

Before the hiatus, the MVP candidate was averaging a massive 37% usage rate. Eric Bledsoe and Pat Connaughton have been ruled out for the Bucks and Marvin Williams is listed as a game time decision only helping the argument for Giannis as the top play on the slate.

Caris LeVert ($7,800 DK / $8,200 FD) vs. Orlando Magic

We might as well take advantage of this pricing while we can. Brooklyn’s team is a mess right now with a majority of their rotation no suiting up for the restart. I would expect LeVert to be the focal point of this team throughout the restart.

LeVert has had a whirlwind last year coming back from injury, but he was playing exceptionally well before the shutdown.

In his past five games, he was averaging 27.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 6.0 assists with a 30.74% usage rate. Those numbers will only improve with who the Nets have available. With all the players missing for Brooklyn, LeVert’s usage increases by 6.87% and has a 13.24 fantasy point increase per 48 minutes.

Baseline Looks

Here are a few players and situations I will be keeping my eye that could be in good spots depending on how news breaks or players I will look into a little throughout the day.

Rachaun Holmes ($5,100 DK / $3,900 FD) vs. San Antonio Spurs – Alex Len and Marvin Bagley will not be playing today. Holmes did play 20 minutes in their last scrimmage and he should be able to exceed value is he sees that type of run tonight.

Lonnie Walker IV ($3,200 DK / $3,800 FD) at Sacramento Kings – Walker has a good opportunity to see some good run tonight with LaMarcus Aldridge, Trey Lyles and Bryn Forbes all out. He has shown a huge upside in the past so I will probably take a few shots in tournaments with him. Plus, we haven’t been POP’ed in a while!

Ish Smith ($4,000 DK / $4,400 FD) vs. Pheonix Suns – Just a reminder to everyone to think back before the shutdown on how the Washington Wizards were playing. Let the opponent score so we can score. If their strategy has not changed, Smith should be able to put up what he needs to against the Suns tonight. Bradley Beal and Davis Bertans have both opted out of the restart so the Wizards could find their way into the optimal lineups on a nightly basis.
