Green Bay Packers (11-3) vs. Minnesota Vikings (10-4)
o/u 47.5
Minnesota -4.5
What a great way to start our Christmas vacation by watching a divisional game between two really good teams. The Vikings are going into this game without Davlin Cook, but they are also getting back Adam Thielen. Minnesota’s running game is still a little bit of a headache with Cook out. As for the Packers, they are pretty healthy and the one news to really keep on eyes on is corner back Kevin King. If he is out, I think we can expect a bump to WR’s on Minnesota.
Tempo
GB – 29th overall
MIN – 18th overall
Both of these teams don’t play at a fast pace, but both are quite capable of making this a high scoring game.
Minnesota
RB’s – Here we go, if you get this situation right I believe you will have no problem making money today. First of all as I am typing this Alexander Mattison is still questionable. If Mattison plays I think we see a split between Mike Boone and Mattison. Mattison has gotten a few practices in, but the word is he is not close to 100%.
Now, if Boone does play we need think really think about the overall situation. Boone will become the lead back, but he is not known for being a passing threat. So, is it possible that we see Ameer Abdullah getting work? CJ Ham? Absolutely, I believe that if you are MME you should atlas have 5%-10% of those two in the situation that Mattison does sit.
WR’s- Thielen is back and I believe he will be fully let loose today in an important game. Stefon Diggs is still of course a no brainer play tonight and will have of plenty of exposure in my lineups. He has a great history versus Green Bay with four touchdowns in the last three division matchups. Have exposure to Diggs and plenty of it.
TE’s – Kyle Rudolph in this matchup is a touchdown boom or bust play with all WR’s healthy.
QB – Kirk Cousins is playing in a prime spot, at home, favorites, and finally has all his weapons back. Yeah, he did play awful against Green Bay in week two and that can be worrisome for some. Cousins is averaging over 8 YPA and I think you would be insane to fade this man, especially in SE.
Green Bay Packers
RB’s- Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams are both getting quite a bit of work. Jones is getting 60% of carries and Jamaal Williams is getting 40%. The Vikings are pretty damn good stopping the run as they rank 26th overall in DVOA. If I were to take a stand, I would lower my ownership on Jones and play a little bit more Williams who will get more passing work tonight in a game based on game script.
WR’s – I love Devante Adams tonight and he is my number one ranked WR in this game. Xavier Rhodes is not playing like his old elite self and I believe Aaron Rodgers feeds his favorite tonight.
Allen Lazard who I believe should see some work tonight, especially with MVS is basically out of the picture. I believe Lazard will see some of Tre Waynes and well he is bad. Geronimo Allison is another guy who is playable, but he truly is nothing more than a dart throw.
TE’s – Jimmy Graham has a really tough matchup tonight and I really don’t have that much interest at all. Last two games he has gotten 4-5 targets, but it is still extremely risky. Touchdown or bust type of play.
QB – Aaron Rodgers is average a little over 7 YPA and is still quite capable of putting up 300+ yard game. He is safe and should be a part of your lineups tonight.
Defenses – Honestly anything can happen. Do we get a struggling Rodgers vs pretty good Minnesota defense? It’s quite possible. Do we see Cousins struggle without having Cook in the back field? Sure. I do believe you want some type of defense ownership in the game tonight. If you are playing SE, you can fade.
Tier 1- Mike Boone, Kirk Cousins, Stefon Diggs, Devante Adams
Leverage- Adam Thielen, Jamaal Williams, Allen Lazard, Both Defenses
Tier 2-Kyle Rudolph, Aaron Jones, Both Kickers
