Philadelphia Eagles (5-7) vs The New York Giants (2-10)
o/u 45.0
Eagles -9.5
Injuries
NYG- Daniel Jones out/ Engram out/ Rhett Ellison out
PHI– Jordan Howard doubtful to play / Nelson Agholor GTD
Tempo
The Giants are 8th in the league in tempo and the Eagles are sitting at 18th. I fully expect that the Eagles will slow the game a ton when they take the lead and just sit on the ball. As for the Giants, I believe they will push the pace as the will be playing from behind most of the game. So I fully expect the tempo of this game to be moderate.
Eagles
RB’s – First of all, the Giants are 11th in DVOA vs the run, in which you can fully attack the Giants with RB’s. Jordan Howard is doubtful and may not play due to a shoulder injury and with this we can expect a ton of work from Miles Sanders tonight. Sanders is averaging 4.2 YPC and is coming off a 20+ carry performance vs Miami. Sanders to me is one of the safest plays tonight and I will have a ton of exposure.
WR’s – Giants rank 30th overall in pass DVOA and second in the league in DK points allowed to WR’s. Overall this Giants defense is not very good and this could explain why they are sitting at 2-10. Alshon Jeffery returned last week for the Eagles and finished the day with 16 targets and a 35% target share.
Nelson Agholor’s target share dropped a significant amount with the return of Jeffery (17%). Agholor did receive six targets last week and should still remain in play if you are MME. Now, as of now Agholor as of now is questionable and if he does sit JJ Arecga– Whiteside could possibly have a larger role.
TE’s – Last week, Zach Ertz was hobbled quite a bit and that could explain his down day in Miami. Regardless, his target share is second on the team at 24%. I firmly believe Ertz will be good to go tonight and we could expect more volume his way. The Giants have actually contained the TE spot fairly well this year and in that case I think Ertz is a nice leverage play.
Dallas Goedert is another TE who was seeing a good amount of volume with a target share of 14%. Goedert is coming off a 7 target week and 5+ target game the last three weeks. Again, the matchup isn’t sexy and Jeffery is back, so I am sure Goedert will get less volume from before. At his price though, I don’t mind him if you are looking for value in your lineup tonight.
QB- Carson Wentz is averaging 6.3 AYA and has a good matchup against these Giants. I will not tell you to fade him if you are running a stack, just make sure your lineups correlate and not just something that you try to make stick.
Giants
RB’s – The Eagles are 8th in DVOA vs the run and we can all hope the re-emergence of Eli Manning could mean better days for Saquon Barkley. When Manning was starting for the Giants, he was more likely to throw dump passes to Barkley which is exactly what we want in PPR format. The matchup tonight is not ideal at all for Barkley, but he has shown that he can be elite and I will assume the volume will still continue.
WR’s – One thing that we need to remember about Eli Manning, is that he has awful at deep targets. This means Darius Slayton’s value takes a huge hit. As for other WR’s, I am really thinking about how effective Manning can be. Understanding that Eli struggles with the deep passes, I am starting to believe Golden Tate will see heavy volume. Sterling Shepard will still get his looks, but I expect more slot work for him.
Shepard will see a ton of Jalen Mills, but I also seeing Tate getting some work against him as well. Mills is the guy the Giants need to attack for this offense to have any type of success. In order of my favorite WR plays tonight it would be Tate, Shepard, and Slayton.
TE’s- Evan Engram and Rhett Ellison are both out for the Giants tonight. So this means that Kaden Smith will all the snaps he can get. Knowing that Eli Manning is not a deep threat type of QB, I expect Smith to get targets. He is a fine value play.
QB’s – Manning is back running the show and honestly it could be a real awful game for the Giants in the end. Regardless, I love his price and if the game script stays the way we think it will I believe he can be fantasy gold for us tonight. I will have a ton of Eli Manning tonight, but also will leverage that play with some Philadelphia defense as well.
