Today is not just any other Tuesday, for tonight DraftKings hosts their giant Spin-o-Rama that pays $100k to 1st place. Hopefully you’ve won a ticket to it. If not, get 10 guys together and take a stab at it. Somebody has to win it, why not one of us? The slate begins at the usual time, so make sure your lineups are entered before the 6 pm CST lock. Also, please be sure to check services like Left Wing Lock or Daily Face Off to verify there have been no last minute line shuffling or goalie changes. This article will discuss the one offs you can plug into your lineups to compliment your stacks or with which to start your cash games. Also, our members will be discussing the slate, lineup construction and everything else NHL DFS related in our Discord, so do yourself a favor and find your way to our premium membership page and get signed up so you won’t miss out on the edge our membership provides!
Aleksander Barkov (FLA) vs CBJ
Barkov doesn’t get as much run as the McDavids and Matthews of the world, but he’s as talented as any top line center in the league. So far this season he’s posted 27 points in only 24 games, including 8 in the Panthers last 6 contests. The Jackets defense is certainly nothing to write home about, and their goalie play, although improved recently, is still hit or miss. I just don’t see them being able to contain Barkov.
Alex Ovechkin (WAS) vs NJD
I think this is the first time I’ve written up Washington’s all-world winger this season, but he is in a spot that is much too good to ignore this evening. As bad as the Devils defense has looked this season, their penalty killing line has been worse. How bad you ask? Well they currently have the worst PK rate in the NHL and it’s not even close. I just don’t see how they keep Ovi out of the net this evening.
THE FIVE HOLE
Here are some players that might not be household names and/or who might fly under the radar, but that are in great spots tonight. In short, these are some less well known one offs that will save you some salary in cash games and bolster your GPP stacks.
Jordan Staal (CAR) vs NSH
Staal seems to have settled nicely into his role centering the Canes 3rd line. In the 22 games in which he’s played, Staal has racked up a very respectable 20 points, including 8 goals. Tonight Carolina hosts a Nashville team that’s in the bottom 5 in the NHL in terms of goals allowed per game. Staal has notched 5 points in his last 3 games, including a 2 point performance against this same Preds team a few nights ago, and I look for him to keep rolling.
Scott Laughton (PHI) vs BUF
Talk about a criminally underrated hockey player! With Philly’s recent surge you’ve heard names like Farabee, Couturier and Van Riemsdyk thrown around, and for good reason, but Laughton certainly deserves his share of the shine. In 19 appearances so far, he’s collected 13 points (6 goals, 7 assists), and all while costing at or near his current DK price of only $3700. In terms of “what have you done for me lately?” Laughton has posted 3 points in his last 3 games and he makes a great cash game play tonight versus a spotty Buffalo defense.
