Our first taste of Saturday hockey this season! While there are a couple of games earlier in the day, I plan to focus on the eight game main slate that starts at the usual time of 6:00 pm CST. Therefore, make sure your lineups are set by then. Also, please be sure to check services like Left Wing Lock or Daily Face Off to verify there has been no last minute line shuffling going on.
This article will discuss the one offs you can plug into your lineups to compliant your stacks and ensure your lineup finishes in the green. Our members will be discussing the slate, lineup construction and everything else NHL DFS related in our Discord, so do yourself a favor and find your way to our premium membership page and get signed up so you won’t miss out on the edge our membership provides!
TOP SHELF
Brendan Gallagher (MTL) at EDM
The Oilers were a middle of the pack team in terms of shots and goals allowed per game, so they’re not a team that inspires fear when it comes to their defense. The fact that star defenseman Oskar Klefbom remains shelved just pokes another hole in the dam that is the Oilers defense. This sets up nicely for Gallagher and fellow MTL1 winger Thomas Tatar to rack up some points.
Auston Matthews (TOR) at OTT
They say the only things that are certain are death, and taxes. Oh, and playing Auston Matthews against weak defenses like the one the Sens will trot out tonight.
Sebastian Aho (CAR) at DET
We played Aho last time out versus the Wings, and it wasn’t the blockbuster performance we expected. However, it’s kind of like getting a ticket to go see Tool play live, and they had a bad performance, and then someone offers you a free ticket to the next night’s show. Are you not going to go? Of course you are, because Tool is awesome, just like Aho.
Max Pacioretty (VGK) vs ANH
Vegas at home is a real thing, and nobody exemplifies this better than Pacioretty. The Knights carved up the Ducks in their most recent outing, and Max was smack dab in the middle of all the chaos. Do not overthink this one, and play him as a one off wherever you can fit him.
THE FIVE HOLE
Here are some players that might not be household names and who might fly under the radar that are in great spots. Here are some less well known one offs that will save you some salary and bolster your stacks.
Alexis Lafraniere (NYR) vs NYI
This youngster finds himself in a money spot on NYR2 with Ryan Strome and The Bread Man. 2020’s number one overall pick is only $3500 on DK, but he won’t stay that way long. This kid is a freak and can light it up from anywhere. So take advantage while the price is right.
Kirill Kaprizov (MIN) vs LAK
Sticking with the “youth movement” theme, I give you the Wilds prized possession under 23 years old. For anyone who was wondering how this kid would perform under the bright lights of the NHL, Kaprizov answered any of those doubts and then some with a three-point performance in his debut. So you’re telling me I can get this kid firing pucks at Jonathan Quick for $4200? Sign me up.
That’s a wrap on today’s picks. Give us a follow on Twitter at @DFSHeadquarters, myself at @bellmar21 if you like what you see! Let’s go LIGHT THE LAMP!
Coupling various research techniques with the discipline learned earning a JD from Baylor University School of Law, he was able to grind his way up to some entries in the 2017 Draft Kings Spin-O-Rama where he scored a six figure payday. From there he never looked back, and has racked up multiple five figure wins in NHL, MLB and Soccer, and countless four figure paydays in everything from MMA to eSports.
On a personal note, he spent 14 years as an Assistant District Attorney, but now spends his day hanging out with his family, watching his son play baseball and writing NHL and MLB content for DFSHQ.
