Frank’s MLB DFS Pitching Gems – 7/29/19

Happyyyyyyy Monday! Hope you guys had an amazing weekend! I’m finishing up my last few days commuting to work and then it’s back to the classroom on Friday! I’m ready; this no AC bullshit kills me. Anyway, let’s talk about my favorite value arms on this slate

Of course today we want Coors and lots of it. So I’m looking at today in a few different ways: play the chalk and get Coors bats or play some high priced arms to differentiate yourself from other lineups. I’m going to run a few lineups with both strategies on this slate.

What I’ll do first is talk about my favorite value arms and give you my top ranked arms in order. You can make your own decision on how you want to attack this slate.

First of all, I really really wanted to play Sonny today. Sadly, it’s not going to be very Sunny in Cincinnati and I’m hearing the rain will be there from 6-8pm, which is no bueno. If you’re playing multiple lineups, I think you lock him in. Just be prepared for a short outing from the man.

Jaime Barria vs. DET ($7,200)
First of all, he is going to be uber chalk, I’m serious UBER. But, he is in a great spot and I just can’t ignore it. He is a -224 favorite with a implied run total of 3.39 and has dropped -0.04. I mean I’m trying to find ways to fade, but I’m struggling. He is at home and has a 20+ DK point upside in this matchup. This is the type of thing you can always run a Tigers stack and play him in another lineup. One of those decisions you have to make. I personally can’t ignore the matchup and upside… eat the chalk and find ways to differentiate elsewhere.

So I really wanted to write up Kelly, who is in a good spot. But I think I will write about an arm that is over 10k. I know, it’s not my style in these articles but this man is hard to ignore in this matchup.

Chris Paddack vs. BAL ($10,200)
I hate paying up for pitching, it’s never been my style. I believe on this slate Paddack has the upside to pay off his salary. Paddack is a -260 favorite and has an implied run total against at 2.46. I know the O’s offense came alive in Anaheim, but now they are getting a huge park downgrade in San Diego. They will also actually play a against a pitcher who knows how to pitch. Paddack is in play in all formats.

Honorable mentions- Corbin/ Caleb Smith. I love Corbin right now, plus I think he will be low owned.
