Happy Fourth of July everyone! I’ll be filling in for my man Frank and try and analyze some pitching on these wacky slates. DraftKings and FanDuel are all over the boards with their slates today due to the holiday which is making some incredibly tough builds with the pitching available.

We are going to take a look at the late(er) slate today. We have Hyun-Jin Ryu ($10,800 FD/$11,100 DK) in a great match up against the Padres and two pitchers, Mike Soroka and Lance Lynn between $8,800 and $9,500, depending which site you are on.

Of Soroka and Lynn, I’m leaning towards Soroka right now. His price has finally come down from over the 10k mark and faces a Phillies lineup who has struggled as of late if I am not going to the top with Ryu.

I’m really plugging my nose on this one and calling this a strictly only GPP play for my pitcher today but I am going to roll out Marcus Stroman ($7,100 FD/$7,600 DK) for my low priced pitcher in tournaments. Against Boston? Let’s take a look at a few reasons for this.

Stroman has faced Boston twice this year and has done fairly well so far producing two quality starts. In his first start, despite walking six batters he was able to pick up with win while fanning four. Two weeks ago at Boston he racked up 26 DK points while striking out six while only allowing one walk.

The Red Sox have been hitting right handers well lately, but Stroman has been solid with a .255 wOBA against them this year.

I’m also digging Stroman’s stat cast data over the past month.

Batted Balls – 77

Ground Ball % – 54.5

Fly Ball % – 31.2

Hard Contact – 22.1%

Average Distance – 185.4 ft

Barreled Balls – 3

Looking at Boston’s projected lineup with four left handers in it, if Stroman can navigate his way past Devers and have his right handed splits neutralize Betts, Bogaerts and Martinez, I think he can be the winning pitcher in GPP lineups tonight.

Good luck with your DFS action today and have a happy and safe Holiday weekend!
