CFL Week 9 DFS Notes for DraftKings

Sorry I was not able to get an article out last week. There was a lot going on, and in the coming weeks, even more is going to happen with the NFL back into swing and college football on the horizon. We know this is the case just by looking at the reduction in contest size on DraftKings. I would expect this to drop even further come September, but really, props to them for offering nice contests the entire season up to this point. I am going to . change the format a bit this week, and opposed . to focusing on teams, focusing on positions.

There are two quarterbacks (left standing – just kidding) worth looking at in my opinion this week: Trevor Harris and Cody Fajardo. Harris has ben rocky, but gets a cupcake matchup at home. Fajardo has been far more consistent and also gets a highly favorable matchup, but it is on the road. That is where I am going to focus most of my attention. I’ve heard rumblings that Bo Levi Mitchell might return this week, and if he does, I guess I don’t mind him, but he seems . to be far more of a game manager with no goal line work. If we needed to punt, I would probably . advise Antonio Pipkin or Dane Evans. Neither makes me feel extremely excited, but offer savings at the position.

Running Backs

I am not sure who the starting running back is going to be for a few different teams, which always makes things exciting. Andrew Harris is in a tough matchup and the price is pretty unattainable. I am likely going to be mostly off him this week after nailing him in 100% of lineups last week. Yes, I am taking a victory lap on the best running back in the league – suck it. Powell, Stanback, Gable and White all have some upside if the BC back rotation is figured out. Stanback is currently carrying an injury designation, and if he misses, I’ll be playing a good amount of Jeremiah Johnson like it was 2017 again. We have to as well monitor Ottawa to see if Mossis Madu returns or not. We’ll keep our eyes peeled on these situations.

Wide Receivers

It’s always fun to come into the week with the top 3 receivers questionable. Banks is an every week play even if I was quarterback. Ellingson is a major target that is an every week tournament play because of how we can pop. Shaq Evans has been one of the most consistent players in the league and in a terrific matchup. If any of those players miss, the ceilings of players around them increase dramatically. One guy who jumps out at me this week is Kevin Elliott, who is too cheap and should benefit with Kenny Stafford shipped out of town. It could be even better if DaVaris Daniels and Ellingson miss again. Value is eventually going to be tougher to come by and he offers solid upsid in a great matchup. If Shaq Evans misses, it will be all the Kyrian Moore and Naaman Roosevelt and Stafford become far more interesting as well. I would love to see RJ Harris come back as well; he is hyper consistent. BJ Cunningham had his best game of the year with Antonio Pipkin. I don’t know that it will be like this this week, but it’s worth noting.

Winnipeg sucked last week. I don’t mind going back to the well at all. I probably prefer them to the Stampeders as the expensive options, but both options have been solid overall. The RoughRiders take on an. Alouettes team that will look different than we have seen most of the year, and I think I am probably only using them sparingly. The RedBlacks look awful in general, and the Eskimos defense should be able to force Dominique Davis into some even worse decision making than he already has.
